As a bookkeeper, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and supporting the financial foundation of our agency’s Accounts Department, especially focusing on our Creative and Spaces team. You will be responsible for a diverse range of financial tasks, ensuring the seamless and accurate operation of our financial processes while working collaboratively with the team. Your meticulous attention to detail, commitment to compliance, and proficiency with financial systems will be essential in driving the agency’s success and growth.

Job responsibilities

  • Accurately record Cost of Sales invoices in Synergist, ensuring they align with purchase orders and serial numbers.
  • Input Overhead invoices into SAGE, ensuring correct categorisation under appropriate nominal codes.
  • Process Sales invoices and forwarding them to clients.
  • Handle supplier invoices, ensuring accurate processing.
  • Take responsibility for daily processing of approved staff expenses, ensuring compliance with the expenses policy.
  • Prepare payment schedules for approval and execute supplier invoice payments on a weekly basis.
  • Assist with general accounts tasks, including credit control as needed.
  • Maintain and update administrative systems as necessary, fostering efficient housekeeping
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and instructions at all times
  • You will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties

Person specification

  • Degree in Accounting, AAT Level 2 or 3 qualification, or a related accountancy qualification is required
  • Demonstrated prior experience in accounting and bookkeeping roles
  • Previous credit control experience is essential
  • Sound understanding of office operations
  • Proficiency in working within a fast-paced accounts environment
  • Capable of account reconciliation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, encompassing Word, Teams, and particularly adept in Excel
  • Highly experienced in SAGE software
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new systems effectively
  • Strong grasp of the fundamental principles of double-entry bookkeeping
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills enabling effective interaction with customers and external stakeholders
  • Exemplary accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in both organisational and time management, ensuring tasks are accomplished effectively
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • Familiarity with GDPR regulations and relevant legislation
  • Skilled in establishing and nurturing client relationships, internally and externally, across various hierarchical levels
  • Possess a composed and confident demeanour for handling potentially challenging conversations
