As part of the Quality Assurance (QA) team, you will work closely with various departments, including Client Services, Studio, Digital, and Social teams. As a Proofreader, you will use your expertise to support the team, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines. Your attention to detail and strong grasp of branding will be essential to this role.

Job responsibilities

  • Review requisitions and briefs to ensure all required information is provided.
  • Check, evaluate, and correct written text, image placement (size, position, crop, content), branding adherence, and consistency, while identifying any misrepresentation.
  • Proofread materials across all departments, including emails, advertisements, leaflets, brochures, social media posts, videos, signage, and more.
  • Ensure compliance with brand guidelines.
  • Stay up to date with language developments, including grammatical changes and emerging phrases.
  • Sub-edit or refine text where necessary to maintain a consistent tone of voice.
  • Liaise directly with other departments to clarify or resolve queries, including issues related to work accuracy, misinterpretations, or potentially libellous content.
  • Work with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Maintain accurate administration records and promote good housekeeping.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and instructions at all times.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties related to your role as required.

Person specification

  • Copywriting: At times, you may be required to create new copy for clients based on a brief, which could involve researching a location and developing content based on your findings.
  • A degree in the following would be desirable:
  • English, Journalism, or Mass Communication
  • Publishing or Publishing Studies
  • Media or Electronic Media
  • Ideally a minimum of one years’ experience proofreading or editing written content
  • With correcting written text in large documents and at a fast pace
  • Knowledge of standard proofreading practices, procedures, and concepts
  • A thorough knowledge of English language including a high level of skill in written English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Copy-editing and on-screen editing skills
  • Concentration, accuracy, and great attention to detail
  • Quick reader with the ability to read and edit quickly without sacrificing quality
  • Familiarity with the production process of online and offline work
  • Working extensively on digital content
  • Excellent computer skills, including the Microsoft suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Use of Apple Macs or PC
  • A thorough approach to detail and methodical working style
  • The motivation to work on your own and to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to stay focused throughout an entire document which may be long and technical
  • Good judgment to gauge which changes are necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build working relationships with colleagues
  • Must be able to multitask, manage, and prioritise multiple projects at the same time
