As a Media Account Manager within Client Services, specialising in Media Planning and Buying, you will play a crucial role as the primary liaison between clients, media owners, and internal specialist teams. Your responsibilities encompass understanding and addressing client needs, fostering robust relationships, and ensuring the seamless day-to-day management of assigned accounts. This dynamic role involves team leadership, active client engagement, driving innovation, and championing the agency’s values and growth.

As a key contributor to client success, you will navigate the ever-evolving media landscape, staying ahead of industry trends and leveraging your digital expertise to deliver impactful solutions. Your influence will extend beyond the daily operations, as you actively participate in client meetings, present comprehensive responses to briefs, and contribute to the development of long-term strategies. Embracing a hands-on approach, you’ll drive innovation, ensuring the agency remains at the forefront of media planning and buying practices.

Job responsibilities

  • Serve as the key point of contact for clients, media owners, and internal specialist teams on assigned accounts.
  • Understand client needs, ensuring timely and budget-compliant responses to all requests.
  • Cultivate excellent relationships with clients, suppliers, and wider Focus team members.
  • Lead day-to-day client management, including but not limited to weekly status calls, media recommendations and schedules, billing, and campaign reporting.
  • Manage the assigned Account Executive, ensuring adherence to agreed SLAs and meeting client expectations.
  • Attend client meetings, presenting responses to briefs, new ideas, reports, and long-term strategies
  • Support the agency's values and growth initiatives.
  • Oversee the organisation of clients' media planning and buying campaigns, maintaining detailed documentation for clients and partner agencies.
  • Drive innovation and enhance the agency's understanding of new ideas and concepts.
  • Delegate work appropriately within the team.
  • Develop and drive professional growth while fostering continuous improvement within the team.
  • Encourage and upskill direct reports, fostering creativity, collaboration, high performance, and growth.
  • Share knowledge and experience across teams.
  • Undertake necessary administrative tasks with a high level of accuracy and promote good housekeeping including archiving old files and updating client details.
  • Compliance with company policies, procedures, and instructions, setting an example for the team.
  • Manage your workload for optimal client satisfaction, emphasising output over input.
  • Occasional travel to in-person meetings with clients, which may involve early starts or late finishes.
  • You will be expected to carry out other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties as a manager.

Person specification

  • A Degree in Marketing, Business or any other relevant degree which includes a marketing element is desirable but not essential
  • Ideally have demonstratable experience working as an Account Manager, or experience of working as a Senior Account Executive, in Media Planning and Buying.
  • Experience in professional client’s relationship management, ideally in the property sector.
  • Demonstrated strong commercial acumen.
  • Experience of handling a variety of accounts and dealing with a number of different stakeholders.
  • Previous experience of managing a small team.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Proficient in digital marketing with a comprehensive understanding of all media channels and their strategic roles in achieving client objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good writing, grammatical and proofing skills.
  • Skilled at prioritising and managing both your own and your team’s time.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within budgetary constraints.
  • Exceptional presentation skills.
  • An understanding of GDPR and relevant legislation.
  • Must be outgoing, but professional, with an ability to build long-lasting relationships.
  • Be able to work under pressure, and to tight deadlines to meet the needs of the client.
  • Highly ambitious and driven individual with the ability to drive a department forward.
  • Be highly motivated, self-sufficient and be able to get hands-on as and when required.
  • Have a strategic mindset, and analytical approach and be a clear communicator.
  • Commitment to working efficiently and accurately.
  • Be able to work as part of a team but also to stay motivated when working alone.
