How we helped

We were approached by Telford Homes to help design and refurb an existing office space into an urban, edgy marketing suite for their Stone Studios’ development in Hackney Wick, one of London’s most exciting and fast-changing neighbourhoods. The relatively small interior required a meeting room and space for two sales executives, as well as a mock area showing an example kitchen and bathroom specification, and a space for staff welfare.

The suite’s interior design needed to stand out and be in-keeping with the character of the vibrant and trendy surrounding area as well as feel stylish and exciting in order to appeal to the potential target market. It also needed to live up to the area which is a thriving centre for the cultural and creative industries with a growing residential population and lively café scene. The exterior of the suite needed to stand out from the competition and be enticing.

What was achieved

Upon arrival into the suite, a large bespoke copper light feature with 28 filament bulbs cascaded above the model, which created excitement as a statement entry piece.

To the left-hand wall of the space, we created a textured red brick feature wall which we also applied to a column within the space. This featured a fret-cut metal logo and literature holder which again linked back to the branding.

We also contacted a local graffiti artist to create some custom artwork pieces which were to be mounted to the walls, giving a nod to the surrounding creative industries.

We commissioned an upholsterer to create an imposing one-off bespoke Chesterfield sofa, upholstered in a metal-grey-style faux leather fabric with copper stud detailing.

This sat with a gold metallic nest of coffee tables and forest green velour cushions to soften the feel.

To the centre of the space, we created a community engagement and discovery area. Clipboards were hung on this with artwork showing a mixture of graphics and events going on in the surrounding area.

As a cost-effective solution to transform the look we also left the ceiling exposed but painted it black to add drama.

We then sourced silent ceiling fans and wrought iron electric radiators to help with the cooling and heating in the space, all of which linked nicely to the stylish Hackney vibe.

What the client had to say

“With such eclectic branding for Stone Studios, we knew we needed more than your average marketing suite for this development – and that’s exactly what we got. Focus’ Spaces team has certainly provided us with the ‘wow factor’ – it’s impossible to walk into the space and not be in awe. No detail was overlooked and the result is a well thought out, inspirational and functional space that showcases the very best of our development and the community it will house. Each time I visit I notice something new and the suite continues to amaze me, I couldn’t be more pleased!” – Kerry Hill, Marketing Manager
